JASC's newest version of Paint Shop Pro is without a doubt, the greatest thing that could have happened for all of us PSP'ers. There are more additions to this program than I could began to list here. If you haven't been to JASC's site yet to see what all has been done to improve this latest version, go here, and check it out ( and even they don't have it all listed ).
OK, now on to those FAQ's.

Q- I am new to PSP8 and have been working with tutorials I get to the point of taking them into Animation shop but always get the message invalid psp format can anyone help.
A- When you save the graphic you want to use in Animation Shop, you have to go to Options and save as PSP 7 compatible. Animation Shop was not updated with PSP 8.

Q - I have PSP 8, and i was wondering if anyone knew how to get PSP 7 brushes to work in 8?
A - You have to import them. Here's how

Q - Is there any way that I can make PSP 8 recognize Palettes I downloaded for PSP 7?
A - Put the palettes you saved in your PSP 8 "My Documents" Palettes folder. To use it just go to Image>Palette>Load Palette.

Q - I have an image I would like to use but I want to change some of the colors on it. The color pallette limits the colors I can use. How do I select the icon so that I can choose the color I want to replace the colors I don't like?
A - In PSP 8 , click IMAGE - INCREASE COLOUR DEPTH. Pick 16 million colours, that should be enough. To select parts of the image you can use the freehand selection tool or the magic wand tool, without seeing the image itself, it's hard to say which would be best. If the colours are flat (no shading) then try the colour replacer tool.

Q - I have this file (pspbrwse.jbf) here and there, in several folders, I assume that it is a temp file that can be deleted...am I right ?
A - It's there for any folder you browse with PSP. You can delete them and you can set your preferences to not save them to disk, but it will take longer to load thumbnails everytime you browse a folder .

Q - Where is the line drawing tool in PSP 8?
A - Click on the Pen Tool, and go to the Tool Options palette. Set it to Drawing Mode, then choose Segment Type.

Q - Can I use a Script to batch resize a group of photos using PSP 8?
A - Yes you can. This Tutorial will show you how.

Q - Is there a way to keep my Workspace the same every time I use PSP?
A - Christine's Place without a doubt, has the overall best answer for that.

Q- I lost my color area at the right side of the work area. The left side contains tools. How do I get that color area back?
A - Right click anywhere on the Tool Bar, Got to Palette, left click on Materials. After getting it back and putting it where you want it, go to; File > Workspace > Save Save it with a unique name. Then, anytime you lose anything, you can got to; File > Workspace > Open, and get it back immediately.
Another, mabye easier method would be to load your Workspace;
( Shift+Alt+L will reload your workspace )

Q - When I put a custom brush in a graphic with v.8 it always goes in a different angle than in the outline of the brush. How do I stop this?
A - On your tool options palette, you'll see a setting for "Rotation", change the settings there to turn your brush in any direction.

Q - Is there a site that has ALL of the changes in PSP 8, plus a LOT of tutorials for PSP 8?
A - Yes, there's a couple sites that list the changes, plus excellent tutorials, they are PSP Survival Guide, and For Absolute Beginners.

A - Go here for the answer.

A - From the Author " This tutorial will teach you how to use BoundScripts, which function essentially as commands and allow you to add scripts to toolbars and menus. It also provides the user with a script that makes managing BoundScripts an easy task. Hope this tutorial helps you make your workspace work for you ".
