| Transparent .Gifs. Menu> File> Export> GIF Export Select the Eyedropper Tool from the Toolbar and right click on what-ever color in the image you want to make transparent ( normally the background color ) If you have multiple colors on the background, choose the color that is most used for the background color....Next Go to the Colors Menu> Set Palette Transparency. Choose the Set the transparency value to the current background color ...Next Use the Proof button to see the how the transparency is going to look, or you can can go to Colors> View Palette Transparency > Transparent view. What ever is going to be transparent will be displayed by a checker board. If you are satisfied with the results, click OK to close the Palette Transparency options. Transparent Text On An Image. Make a selection of the text, right click on the Create Mask button-> Hide Selection. That will make whatever is on the current layer transparent in the selection area, which would be the text. Anything on lower layers would be visible. Screen Capture. In PSP 7 go to File> Import> Screen Capture> Setup. The way I do it is under "Capture" I select "Area". Under "Activity Capture Using" I select "Hot Key" and "F11". Go to the image you want to capture and place your mouse pointer on an outside corner, press F11 on your keyboard and your mouse pointer will change to a large plus sign. Left click once and release and 1x1 will appear on the plus sign, this is the area in pixels that you have selected at this time. To make the area larger, move your mouse up or down, and right or left, depending on the outer corner that you selected. The numbers on your plus sign will increase in value, and a box will appear around the area that you have selected for a screen capture. When you have your desired area selected left click and that area will appear in PSP. Creating Textures. Create, or open, the image you wish to use as the texture. Create a grayscale version .. Colors> Grayscale. Save the grayscale image as a .bmp in your PSP Texture directory. Soft Edges Effect. Go to Selections > Modify > Feather, and set your feather values. The bigger the number the softer the edge.Once you are complete, press Ctrl+Shift+I (Invert Selection) Press delete, about three or four times. The more you press delete, the more of the image gets erased or "softened". Transparent Grid Lines. In PSP open a new image 10x10 with a transparent background. Choose View> Zoom in by 5. Make sure you have rulers on ( View > Rulers). Select the Draw tool and in the Tool Options palette choose Point to Point, width set to 2, Antialias checked, Create as Vector and Close Path unchecked. Set foreground color to black and turn off background color. On your image do a point to point line both horizontal and vertical at the midway point on your image ( 5 on the ruler ) from one edge of your image to the other. What you will end up with is the plus ( + ) sign. DO NOT MERGE AND FLATTEN!! Save as a PSP image for later use but don't close the image. Open up a new image that you want to put a transparent grid on, add a new layer and flood fill with your grid pattern ( this will be a pattern fill selected from patterns in the styles palette ). This will give you a transparent grid over your image. You can also change the grid size by changing scale in the pattern palette making the grid either larger or smaller. You can even change the color of your grid by slecting the solid line on the grid [may want to zoom up for this] with the magic wand and then flood fill with the color of your choice. Changing The Look Of Presets ( psp 7 ). In PSP 7, on the right is the two " styles " boxes. When you select your " preset image ", click on the tool options and UN-CHECK the retain style box. This will allow you to make the preset whatever color you have chosen for the " stroke " color and also the " fill " color. You can lock either one if you dont want to use them both ( the " lock " is the circle with a line drawn through it ). If you use just the stroke, the preset will be outlined with the color you decide. If you use just the " fill ", it will not have an outline..use both, it will be filled with your color, and outlined with the other color.. Convert Photos To Cartoon Like Images ( psp7 ). Go to Effects > Artistic Effects > > Brush strokes, and play with the settings. Using RGB Mode For .Gif's. Click on Colors> Increase Color Depth> 16 Million Colors. Dump The PSP Opening Splash Screen ( registered versions only ). Menu> File > Preferences > General Program Preferences > Miscellaneous>Uncheck Show Splash Screen. How Do I Add Non PSP Plug-Ins To My PSP Tools. Click on File> Preferences > File Locations > Plug In Filters. Click on Browse, browse to the folder that contains your PSP compatable plug-ins, click OK. The next time you use PSP, the newly added plug-ins will be available. Dont store your new, non PSP plug-in filters in your PSP directory. It's best to create a stand alone directory to point at in the manner stated above. I Cant Make A Circle With The Pre Set Shapes Tool ( psp 7 ). Hold down the Shift key while using the Ellipse pre set. Can I save My Graphic Like it Is, And Work On It Later. Yes. In order to keep your graphic in an " editable " condition, save it as a " Paint Shop Pro Image " ( save as .psp . If you are wanting to save individual layers, et., to work on later, refer to the " Workspace " tip on Page 2. I Want To Use My Tubes In PSP 6 In My New PSP 7. How Can I Fix The " Jaggies " On My Font's. When you open your text editor, make sure " Antialias " is checked. When I Type My Text On A Graphic, It Is Just Dotted Lines. When you open your text editor, make sure " floating " is checked. When I Try To Add Effects Or Colors To My Text, Everything Is Grayed Out. Go to Colors > Increase Color Depth > 16 Milion Colors. When I Use The Grid Tool I Cant See The Grid Lines. Click on View > Grid > Guide Properties > Line Color. Just click on the filters Reset, and it will change them back to the factory default. Can I Set Plug-Ins To Look The Same On Different Graphics. Yes, if you have changed the appearance of the effect and have NOT clicked OK, just hold down the " Shift " key and click the effects Reset button, this will put the effect back to where it was for the last graphic. Another way would be to click on Cancel, close the effect tool, bring the effect tool back up, the last effect used will still be there. When I Crop A Graphic, It Leaves A Border Around It. Before you crop it, set your PSP background color ( where foreground/background colors are set ) to the same color as the graphics background. Change The Background Color Of Your New Graphic. When ever you begin working on a new graphic, its always a good idea to put at least one new raster layer on top of the new background BEFORE you begin working on it. Then add your background color to your new layer..THEN, create another layer to start putting your graphics on. This allows you to change the background color, or to add additional graphics to the layer your background is on, and fill the first layer with the color of your choice. In every instance, when I began making a new graphic, I create 3 layers before I start doing anything else. |
