| Q - When I make a graphic, it looks great, but when uploaded on the net, the graphic looks blurry. A - You could be over compressing them. If their .jpg's, click on File > Save As > Options > Run Optimizer this will give you 2 views. One = original...two= compressed image. You can adjust the compression until the image looks like you want it to look Q - How do I remove " jaggies " from an image I want to copy and paste on another image? A - Use the selection tool to select the part of the image you want to move, set it on feather ( 1 or 2 ), copy / paste it on to your new image. Q - Is there anyway to turn off the feature where PSP7 remembers the colors that you use for each tool and automatically changes to them when you switch tools? A - On your Color Palette, check the box that says "Lock", that will stop it from changing. Also, to bring up the last 8 colours you used, and 8 standard colours easily, just right click on the colour boxes on the Colour Palette toolbar. Q - I have a perticular problem often. It's getting text to look readable. Everyone always goes "looks good... but I can't read that text. A -Take the most dominate color in your graphic (or second most) and use the complete opposite color for your text, or use shades of that opposite color. Q- How do you make quick, multiple, diagonal lines using PSP7? A - Click on Effects > Texture Effects > Blinds. Q - When starting a new graphic, what size canvas is best to start with? A - Regardless of what I'm going to create, I start out on a 600x500 canvas. I'm one who likes plenty of room to work on. Then crop the finished product down to size. Its said over and over, a graphic will tend to look better downsized, rather than making it larger. Second rule of thumb, always add any text last, text doesnt do well resized in either direction. So get the graphic completed, then the text. And ALWAYS save the graphic first, as a .psp file ( without any layers merged ). Then save it as a .jpg, .gif, or whatever. Saving it as a .psp file will allow you to go back to it, with layers in place, and work on it again. Q - When i download a font... how do i load it into PSP 7 so that i can use that font? A - If you dont have an overwhelming amount of non windows fonts, they will automatically show up. Just make sure you are unzipping them in the c: \ windows\fonts directory. The next time you use the text tool in PSP, the fonts will be there. Q - I want to put a hue over an entire image...the same color as the back round color? A - Add a new layer. Flood fill it with your background color. Click on Layer > Properties > and adjust the opacity down till its just a ' Hue "? Q - I've never had this problem before, but when I try to try take a screenshot of something it only displays a portion of it and when saved doesn't show up at all. Any suggestions? A - Check your settings under File>Import>Screen Capture>Setup. To just make a regular screen capture, click on "Prt Scr" on your keyboard, then go to PSP, right click on the workspace and select "Paste as New image." Q - If I want to use the Selection tool to draw a circle inside a circle, how do I do it. A - If you look at the bottom left of PSP, where ever you place your cursor, there is a set of numbers ( like 320-450 ). When you first place your cursor down, look at those numbers, create your first circle. Then, start at the exact same place with the second circle. The inner circle will align perfectly. Just make it whatever size you want the inner circle to be. ( this is true no matter what shape you are wanting to make. Q - How can I use a pattern or any image as a flood fill? A - Just open any image you want to use as a texture. Then click on the texture tool, the image you opened up, will be at the top of the selections. Q - I found some Tubes I really like that are for PSP 6, can I change them to work in PSP 7? A - Click on Start > Program Files > Jasc Software > Utilities > Tube Concerter. They will be converted automatically. Q - What is a plug-in? A - a plugin is an add-on filter that you can use with Paint Shop Pro. They allow you to create special efects that couldnt be done with the effects that come with PSP.
