The Beginners Dictionary
There's no way to sit down and try and write a web page about all of the technical changes that have been made in version 8...unless you happen to be a man by the name of Eric. He has taken the time ( a LOT of time ) to explain all those new terms you'll find as you learn to use the newest version of PSP. This site should be your first stop, so go there, and be sure to bookmark it.

The Text Tool
As we all found out immediately, the Text Tool changed big time. Althought the new tool is far advanced over version 7, it's been a bit of a quandry trying to figure out all it does, and how it works. Khibas Site takes all the confusion out of it, and shows you how to use the Text Tool in a very easy to understand tutorial.

The Warp Tool
I'm still a bit confused about the correct terminology of the tool, so I'll just let the author of this tut explain it in their very own unique way. But don't let this detract you from using to learn it, the finished effects can be outstanding...
" Let's try and summarize some of the ideas behind the Draft Mode in warping: One way to think of the Draft Mode is as a kind of resolution setting for the deformation. In High Draft Mode, very fine changes in pixel position can be represented. In Coarse Draft Mode, we can't define the deformation as accurately. The Medium and Low modes lie in between these two extremes. The less precise the Draft Mode, the faster is the brush. " Check out Camp Ratty's Site to see how it's done.

The New Improved Vectors / Pen Tool
From The Author... It's been well over two years in the making but at long last the good folk at Jasc Software have released version 8 of Paint Shop Pro. Well, the wait has been worth it. This is a major upgrade indeed, with many wonderful new features and a great new look. One area where there has been major improvements is in vector graphics (node editing in particular). With the introduction of the Pen tool, Paint Shop Pro is becoming a serious vector graphics tool.

Brush Variences In PSP 8
From The Author..PSP8 has a killer new paint engine, but it scares a lot of people because mastering it is a good deal more abstract than getting used to tubes or filters. Variances interact with one another, and with tool options, and with the TYPE of brush you are using, and, oh, yeah, with layer blends and the content of the layer on which you are painting. "
Jkabala's site takes the mystery out of it.

The Materials Palette
The Materials palette is where you choose either your color, a gradient, or a pattern. It will also allow you to use a texture along with a color. Pretty slick, and you can find out how to use it here.

Text On A Path
Creating text on a path use to be a hair pulling experience, it no longer is. The need to Flip...Mirror...Center, and so on, is no longer necessary. In version 8, you just click where to want the text to be on the path, and thats where it goes...ain't life grand. Check it out out

Automatic Red Eye Removal
If you've ever taken a picture of a live subject, there's no need to tell you how bizarre it makes your subject look. Especially if those subjects are all recent graduates of AA . Take the red out and sober em up.
